Lead the New Heights: Nicole Lamarche

The transformation of Domaine Lamarche into a beacon of Burgundian excellence is a tale of dedication, innovation, and family heritage. For decades, this Vosne-Romanée estate, rooted in the Lamarche family since the 18th century, struggled to rival the prestige of neighbors like Romanée-Conti.

That narrative shifted when Nicole Lamarche, daughter of François Lamarche, took the helm. Since assuming sole charge in 2006 after her father’s retirement, she has elevated the domaine’s wines to new heights, a journey well worth exploring begun with changes on cultivation and barrel suppliers.

Nicole’s impact began when she joined the domaine in 2006, bringing her oenology diploma and a bold vision. Significant improvements emerged from the 2019 vintage, with taking over since 2013 because of the death of her father, she started the work from the vineyard to vinification, the winemaking part.

Her commitment peaked in 2018, when she replaced her father’s name with her own on the bottle labels, marking a new era for Domaine Lamarche, now officially Nicole Lamarche.

About Nicole Lamarche’s Winemaking

Her philosophy: shifting to biological cultivation, low yield, reducing new oak to a maximum of 50% for top wines, depending on the vintage, and updating winery equipment, has redefined the domaine’s output.

The result?

Wines that express their terroir with elegance rather than sheer power, earning acclaim from critics like Clive Coates, who dubbed it a “three-star domaine” in his book My Favorite Burgundies.

This evolution is most striking in La Grande Rue, a 1.65-hectare plot nestled between Romanée-Conti and La Tâche, granted Grand Cru status in 1992 after years of underperformance.

Nicole’s meticulous care has unlocked its potential, producing silky, precise wines with vibrant freshness. Other holdings, like Grands Échezeaux and Clos de Vougeot, also reflect this refined approach, showcasing a portfolio that balances tradition with innovation.

Today, Domaine Lamarche, now officially Nicole Lamarche, invites you to discover its transformation.

Whether it’s the unique mélange of Clos de Vougeot or the premier crus of Vosne-Romanée, each bottle tells a story of renewal.

Cheers to Nicole’s legacy!
