Domaine Hudelot Noellat Founding & Strategic Marriage:

Founded in 1962 by Alain Hudelot in Vougeot, the estate’s footprint expanded dramatically in 1978 when Alain married Odile Noëllat, granddaughter of famed Vosne-Romanée vigneron Charles Noëllat, combining premier holdings from both families under the hyphenated name.

Next-Gen Leadership: Since the 2008 vintage, the estate has been masterfully directed by Alain’s grandson, Charles van Canneyt, who took over at just 20 years old and elevated the domaine into the top of quality Burgundy producers in Cote de Nuits.

Vineyard Proportion:

The domaine manages roughly 10 hectares across 15 appellations, with exceptionally high average vine ages—many planted between the 1920s and 1950s (including century-old vines in Romanée-Saint-Vivant and Les Suchots. Grand Cru takes 21.94%; Premier Cru takes 35.25%; Village takes 42.81%. Hudelot-Noëllat is one of only three domaines (alongside DRC and Domaine Leroy) to hold parcels in both Richebourg (0.28 ha) and Romanée-Saint-Vivant (0.48 ha).

Charles added the Bourgogne Aligote in the domaine lineup to showcase old-vine Aligoté from a single parcel of old vines planted in 1950, located on the lower slopes of Chambolle-Musigny. First vintage was 2021.
